Echoing the sounds of Washington, DC across the campus twice within the past decade with visits by two sitting Presidents is no small feat for acommunity college. However, that is the history revolving around Forsyth Technical Community College who hosted President George W. Bush in 2003 and President Barack Obama in December 2010.

North Carolina Central University awarded 550 bachelor's degrees Saturday morning in ceremonies at O'Kelly–Riddick Stadium. In a rousing commencement address, U.S. Rep. John Lewis, the famed civil rights leader, challenged the graduates to "get into good trouble."


President Obama's Favorite Forsyth Tech Student - May 2011
A former furniture factory worker who became one of President Barack Obama's favorite success stories was among the 1,360 students who graduated from Forsyth Technical Community College on Thursday at Joel Coliseum. Kathy Proctor, 55, who met Obama during his trip to the school in the fall and was invited to attend his State of the Union address in January, graduated with an associate's degree in biotechnology. Besides her contact with Obama, Proctor also became known for excitedly mouthing the words "That's me" when Obama mentioned her name in his address.

The Business Journal - Forsyth Tech Bio Grads Study - April 2011
recent study of Forsyth Technical Community College biotechnology program graduates found a need for training in so-called "soft-skills" such as communications and networking to go alongside lab work.
The study, by the National Center for the Biotechnology Workforce, was the third progress report of Triad biotech students compiled by the center, which is based at Forsyth Tech. Previous studies focused on determining how many graduates had successfully moved into the biotech work force.
